General Information:
The R 50 model was first presented in January 1955 in Brussels and heraldeded a new era at BMW because of the tuning forks. The engines, largely unchanged, originated from the predecessor models R51, whereby transmission and chassis were new.

So, BMW stood for building chassis of particulary high quality, especially since all models were equipped with tapered roller bearings. Although the downward sloping rear frame was a bit strange, it should give the model a rigid-frame optic and also allow the addition of a sidecar. The same applied to the long tuning fork at the front, which was built according to a patent by Ernie Earles ("Earles-fork"). If you want, we can change the handle bar.
